St. Vital

With its new residential developments and its highly popular St. Vital shopping mall, this neighbourhood south of St. Boniface is now one of Winnipeg’s most dynamic communities

Why Go There?

If a visit to St. Vital is on the agenda, be sure to drop in to the Riel House National Historic Site of Canada commemorating the life of Louis Riel, the founding father of Manitoba. Riel’s body lay in state for two days in this house following his execution for his role in the North-West Rebellion. The house remained in the Riel family until 1969 and was later restored and furnished as it was in 1886, six months after his death.

If it’s a nice day, visit the Jardins St-Léon Gardens and take your fresh, locally grown purchases for a picnic in St. Vital Park, one of Winnipeg’s largest green spaces. Come to St. Vital and check out its many restaurants, services and shops. If you’re lucky, you might just bump into Stanley Cup hockey champion and St. Vital’s own Jonathan Toews!
